7th Grade Final Exams are coming up! See the schedule under "Weekly Test Schedule."
Thank you so much for ALL of the thoughtful gifts and cards throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. The sentiments were overwhelming.! Thank you for all that you do as parents and the sacrifices you make to ensure the Catholic education of your children. God bless. 5/6/19 Seventh graders will be finishing up their owl pellet dissections this week. I am in the process of preparing for Final Exams. 7th and 8th graders should also begin preparing. It would be a great idea to begin gathering the study packets from the last half of the year for Science. Finals for Math will cover all of the material from the beginning of the year but Science finals will just be over the chapters we've covered since Midterms. I hope you all had a great Easter and a relaxing break! 8th graders will be racing their mousetrap cars this week - it's an exciting event to be a part of! 7th graders are dissection owl pellets and finding some very interesting things. 6th graders have their eyes to the sky watching the phases of the moon - ask them what a gibbous is! In order to finish the year strong, a reminder that students should be working on Math homework each evening. Just a half hour each night of the week can do wonders! Just a reminder that the burned matches for the Lenten Craft Project will be due the end of March. Please send them in ASAP if you have not done so already. Thank you!! You may be seeing a few different field trip permission slips coming home in the next week or two. It is much appreciated if you turn them in as soon as possible. It's helpful for the teachers and their paper management. Thank you! 7th grade parents - please remember to do your online registration for the Cardinal Mooney High School Day before the end of the month. Thank you! Please pass the word along about our Spring Open House this coming Thursday, March 14th. Also, Happy Pi Day! A big thank you to the families that have returned their pie donation form. Thank you for supporting our pie sale which is this Friday, March 8th. If you have not yet turned in your form, please send it in this week. Thank you. A great time was had by all in our 2019 Academic Olympics practice! Our students demonstrated teamwork, cooperation and great sportsmanship. Nice job, Saints! Please be sure to return your pie form this week. Thank you in advance for your generosity toward the success of our 5th/7th grade pie sale! Congratulations to all of our Spellers in the Spelling Bee! We have never had students so well prepared to compete. It was fun and exciting and congratulations to Katie Zyble for winning the competition!! Due to the snow/ice day, the Spelling Bee has been changed to February 4th at 12:45 p.m. The annual 5th-8th grade Spelling Bee will be held on Monday, January 21st. Parents are welcome to attend. We will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. Here is the schedule for Midterm Exams for Grades 7 and 8: Thursday, January 10th Reading and Religion Monday, January 14th Social Studies Tuesday, January 15th Math & Vocabulary Wednesday, January 16th English Friday, January 18th Science Midterm Exams for grades 7 and 8 will be held the week of January 14th- it will be here before we know it! I have already started discussing study strategies with the students. The key to doing well on the Math Midterm is to START NOW. Any concept they are having trouble with should be addressed now so that the midterm will be a breeze by the time it gets here. That way, that's one less test to study for during crunch time. We have some fun projects going on ~6th grade will be modeling the uneven heating of the Earth's surface. 7th grade is building edible cells complete with labelled organelles, and 8th grade will be learning about regression analysis. I guess that depends on your idea of fun. :-) I want to share with you how impressed I am each and every day with the kindness and compassion your kids show to those around them. It truly is a tribute to their home life and the work of their parents. Thank you! The students are learning about some fascinating topics in Science this week: 6th - rocks, 7th - cells and 8th - Atomic Theory. Let them share some of their knowledge with you at the dinner table this week! I'm looking forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday this week. Mrs. Nader, Ms. Pecorilli and myself will meet together in Room 204 - you can see us all at once to save you time. See you then! Thank you to all of the 8th graders that have already turned in their pennies for our Penny Lab. They aren't needed until the week of November 5th but it's good to be prepared! Pray for good weather for our field trip to the Apple Orchard on October 25th! The kids will be bringing home some fresh-picked apples! Yum!! Please remember to turn in the field trip permission slip for Blake's Cider Mill by Monday. Thank you!! If you are interested in ordering from Scholastic online, our class code is HHTZG. We are half way through IOWA's. The lucky 7th graders get to do TWO testing booklets. They have been real troopers and continue to do their best. Get lots of rest this weekend and we will start up again on Monday! It is almost time for IOWA testing! Make sure the number 2 pencils are sharpened and ready to go - testing begins the first week of October. Seventh grade has an additional test called the CogAt so it usually takes about a week and a half to get through everything. A good breakfast and lots of rest is so important! Wednesday morning math help will begin on September 12th. Please come at 7:30 so someone will be able to let students in. Come with your mathematical questions! WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME! It's so exciting to think that a new year is upon us! During our first week back, we will be reviewing Lab Safety with an Escape Room, getting into Math Level Groups and going over our school-wide behavioral plan called PBIS. If you have questions about back to school, let me know! I hope to see you at Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, August 29th. The general meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. with classroom sessions beginning at 6:30 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. For your convenience, the Middle School teachers will present at the same time in Ms. Savoyard's room. “Communication and trust are two main ingredients for a successful relationship.” Unknown |
Remember that I offer Math Help on Wednesday mornings beginning at 7:30 a.m. until the start of the school day. I am happy to help with any problems or questions.
